UAE: ADNOC Not Rushing Dubai Expansion – Report
Wednesday, 09 January 2013
ADNOC plans a slow entry to the Dubai fuel retail market, according to Gulf News. Citing a “top-ranking oil industry source”, the agency reported that it may take up to two years before ADNOC distribution opens its first fuel service station in the market.
“ADNOC doesn’t want to enter the Dubai market in a big way,” the source remarked. “They will take some strategic locations and build a few pumps in Dubai. We may see 2-3 ADNOC stations in two years time and after 5 years, there may be 10 ADNOC stations operating in Dubai.”
Gulf news reported that, when operational, ADNOC stations in Dubai will operate alongside the other local fuel retailers — Enoc, Eppco and Emarat – which sell fuel at subsidised rates to consumers, as mandated by the UAE government.
